VIMP 5.0 is the new major VIMP update and includes many new features and improvements. Read below what has changed.
Neues Template
Mit dem OCEAN-Template bietet VIMP ein zusätzliches voll-responsives und barrierefreies Template für Ihre Videoplattform an. Es besticht durch sein breites Design und ist konform zu den Richtlinien der Barrierefreiheit (BITV 2.0/WCAG).
Inplace update
From now on you can conveniently update VIMP to a new version without server access. All you need to do is upload the updater file and start the update.
Using the built-in backup and restore function, you can always switch back to an older version if needed.
Top 10 in the Dashboard
In the backend, the dashboard has been extended with a Top 10 list of the most popular media, the most active viewers and the most diligent uploaders.
Performance improvements
Not only the support of PHP 8.0 as well as HTTP/2 gives VIMP 5.0 a performance boost (especially for high traffic installations), but also further code optimizations have improved the performance even more.
Improvements in albums, channels, groups and livestreams
Livestreams can now also be created from the frontend by authorized users. Media can optionally be uploaded directly to albums and private albums can be shared via a secret link. The roles of channel users can now also be assigned in the frontend. The order of group media can be changed as desired via drag’n’drop and when adding media to albums, channels and groups, all media can now be marked with one click.
Enhanced logging functionalities
Administrators can now view changes to media via the media changelog. This means that it is always possible to see who changed what and when. A download counter tells administrators how many times a medium has been downloaded, and a download log file also contains additional information about media downloads.
New API methods
A new method was added to the API and existing methods were extended.
Other new features and important notes
In addition to the new features mentioned above, this release contains a long list of other improvements and additions. These include e.g. additional audio tracks for audio descriptions, subtitles for audio files, personalized algorithm for media recommendations, use email address as username and many more.
