Our new release VIMP 5.6 offers you besides an overview of public playlist, the glossary function of our partner Amberscript and a revision of the configuration even more useful optimizations. Read below what has changed.
Playlist overview
With VIMP 5.6.0 we provide a new menu item with all public playlists, which allows users to share playlists even better. On this new overview page, all playlists with the status “public” are bundled. If there are no public playlists in your portal, the menu item will not be displayed. In addition, you can easily edit the “Playlists” menu item via the menu management in the administration interface.
Exciting features now enabled by default
Our VIMP video platform solution offers an impressive feature set that has grown for over a decade. Depending on your intended use and individual requirements, you can activate or deactivate the functions as you wish. This allows you to tailor the experience to your specific needs, providing your users with an optimal VIMP experience. In the course of our last releases, we have developed exciting features and presented them to you in our blog as well as newsletter, but we have not yet activated them by default.
With VIMP 5.6.0, we have now changed the default value of the following features from “Disabled” to “Enabled” in the configuration, making them active in your video CMS with the new update:
- Personalized media recommendation: Media recommendations based on the viewed and liked media of the respective user.
- Resume media playback: All previously started videos are saved with the last saved timestamp
- Continue Watching Box: Display of all videos already started in a clear area on the home page as well as in the user profile
Important: Please check these settings after the update to make sure they are set according to your requirements. You can find the settings under Configuration -> Media -> Media Settings.
Amberscript glossaries
If you use the automatic transcription of our partner Amberscript in VIMP, you now get a useful additional feature. With the glossaries, you can create a dictionary of words per video, whose entries are used in the automatic transcription as well as subtitle creation, provided that sufficient similarity is detected during transcription. This is particularly useful, for example, for names, company names, or special terms that are often misinterpreted by the AI.
Rework of the configuration
We have fundamentally revised the configuration in the administration area: From now on, you can change your configuration values even easier as well as faster with just a few clicks. In addition, we have removed a number of obsolete configuration parameters, further improving clarity.
Optimizations in usability and performance
With VIMP 5.6 you get a number of improvements in various areas. Particularly noteworthy in our new release are the further usability and performance optimizations, such as the inclusion of new housekeeping tasks, which further improves the VIMP experience for all your administrators and users.
